8 ways to become a better cricketer

8 ways to become a better cricketer

It’s the ashes. Therefore, just as when Wimbledon fever hits, everyone’s dusting off their bats and hitting the nets. Are you feeling a tad rusty? You’re no Joe Root, and you’re unlikely to be able to hit one like Warner. So here at Saad Raja cricket, we’ve broke 8 SIMPLE ways to become that little bit better of a cricketer.

1) Work by yourself:

You don’t need anyone else to practice cricket skills. Bowl sets of 6 balls in a net by yourself and keep on practicing. Dust of the cobwebs before anyone’s watching 😉

2) Individual Coaching

Get yourself a separate coach. A high-quality individual coaching where you will be the sole and primary focus of the instructor.

3) Physical Fitness

This may be a controversial subject. Players like Freddie Flintoff’s fitness is well documented to be less then… Elite. But it cannot be argued that being fitter, faster and stronger will give you an advantage over the next slightly overweight boozy cricketer.

4) Play more

Practice makes perfect. Play as many matches as possible. Getting real game experience is invaluable to your development – learning from your mistakes is the only way you’ll improve.

5) Stay Focused

What do you want to achieve? Do you want to be playing at the next ashes? Or just getting a few wickets at your next local game? Be clear on what you want to achieve and stay focused on achieving that goal!

6) Advice from senior players

Never be too proud to ask for advice. They’ve been playing a lot longer then you have. They might not be the player they once were but they’ve been there and have the t-shirt to prove it.

7) Behaviour and Attitude

What sets out the truly elite athletes from you and me? Their attitude is the number one reason for them reaching the top. It doesn’t matter how talented you are, it’s your commitment and application that will take you far.

8) Watch and observe professionals playing

Finally, Study. Obsess. Learn from your idols. How do they do what they do. Break down their game, then get out on the field and try and replicate it.
So there you have it. Saad Raja’s 8 simple ways to improve your game. We love to hear from you, so be sure to send in your tops tips via our contact page today.
